The German saxophonist Patrick Stadler, born in 1985 in Donaueschingen, is one of the today’s most innovative saxophonist. As soloist and with different ensembles he is very engaged in the field of contemporary music and is always looking for new ways of musical expression.

He has performed in many European countries and went on tour in the USA, Russia, Argentina, Israel, New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand and Kazakstan. As soloist he appeared with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, Kammerorchester Basel, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Philharmonie Zentralschweiz, Lucerne and L’Orchestre Tibor Varga, Sion. As member of the renowned Ensemble Nikel, the Ensemble Inverspace and the Landman/Stadler Saxophone Duo he collaborates with young as well as established composers from all over the world. In the last years numerous pieces were written for and premiered by him and his ensembles. Furthermore he was asked to take part in project and recordings of contemporary music ensembles like Collegium Novum Zürich, Ensemble Phace, Vienna and Klangforum Heidelberg where he had the chance to work with Emilio Pomarico, Peter Rundel, Jonathan Stockhammer and Walter Nußbaum among many others.

Patrick Stadler is continuously guest at important festivals and concert series such as Wien Modern, Ultraschall Berlin, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, Schwetzinger Festspiele, Lucerne Festival, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, aDevantgarde Munich, Tzlil Meudcan, Ars Musica, Davos Festival, Bludenzer Tage für zeitgemäße Musik und Klangspuren Schwaz. In his recent project he is engaged in improvised music and projects that combine music, theatrical moments and electronics.

His concerts are frequently recorded and broadcasted by radio stations from England, Belgium, Austria, France, Switzerland and Germany. In 2017, on the occasion of its tenth anniversary he released four CD’s and one DVD with the ensemble Nikel. In 2019 his first Solo-CD with the complete recording of the 70 minute piece „necessità d’interrogare il cielo“ by the Italian composer Giorgio Netti will be released on the KAIROS Label.

Since 2015 he has been teaching classical saxophone and chamber music at the University of Music in Freiburg (GER). Before he was already assistant professor and substitute for Prof. Marcus Weiss at the University of Music in Basel (CH). Additionally he gives masterclasses and lectures for saxophonists, composers and in chamber music at places all over the world. He has been invited to the Temple University (USA), Victoria University (NZ), Royal College of Music (GB), Universidad de Córdoba (ARG), Chapman University (USA), Manhattan School of Music (USA), Darmstädter Ferienkurse (GER), Lucerne University of Arts (CH), Berklee College of Music (USA), University of Southampton (UK) and Tchaikovsky Conservatory (RUS) to name a few.

Since 2019 he is Professor for saxophone at the University of Music in Nuremberg (GER).
